IWC Premiere: You Haven’t Seen This Anywhere Else Yet
Spring is approaching and it’s time for fresh, new things. Re-designing winning classics has proven a successful idea again and again in fashion and design, lately. And when Swiss luxury watchmaker IWC does it, the result is pure beauty.
In Goodwood , for the Goodwood Road &Racing 74th Member’ Meeting, where IWC is Official Timing Partner.
This weekend, 19-20 March 2016.
What is the MM?
As the name suggest, the Members’ Meeting is an event for insiders, who gather in a relaxed surrounding and have access to all areas. It revives the atmosphere and sense of community that reigned at the Members’ Meeting organised by the British Automobile Racing Club from 1949 to 1966.
The New Ingenieur Collection
For the Goodwood event, IWC presented an exclusive collection of newly designed Ingenieur models : 74 Watches for the 74th Members’ Meeting.
Three Different Styles
Ingenieur Chronograph Edition “74th Members’ Meeting at Goodwood”
Ingenieur Chronograph Edition “Rudolf Caracciola”
Ingenieur Chronograph Edition “W 125”
Eye-Catching Vintage Character
The most distinct feature of the new watches is the solid red gold case, that measures 42 mm in diameter. The elegant and sporty new design take the Ingenieur into the golden age of classic motor sport.
…And Watch-Making Innovation
And inside there is a surprise! The new in-house calibre takes the legendary IWC movement expertise to another level. The column-wheel chronograph movement comprises more than 200 components.
After 1,123 revolutions of the rotor, the bidirectional pawl-winding system has built up a power reserve of 46 hours. The balance oscillates at a rate of 4 Hz and guarantees a high level of precision,
explains Thomas Gäumann, head of In-House Movement Development.
Motorsport Big Names
The occasion is an opportunity for IWC to renew its relationship with some of motorsport’s big names, including two-time Formula One World Champion Mika Häkkinen, Le Mans winner Jochen Mass, former Formula One and German Touring Car Masters driver Karl Wendlinger and Bernd Schneider, who holds the record for the most German Touring Car Masters championships.
The Back of the Story
The back of these watches is as perfect as the front.
Last But Not Least
IWC is committed to sustainable production, supports institutions around the globe in their work with children and young people, and maintains partnerships with organizations dedicated to climate and environmental protection. Beauty shines bright when it has a soul!
