Oticon’s Smallest, Smartest Yet
- The CEO’s joke hit home
Zurich: November 2025: Søren Nielsen, the Danish CEO of Oticon, while presenting the smallest hearing aid ever made, joked that nobody has one on their Christmas wish list. And it’s true—people don’t dream of getting a hearing aid, even though it could be the most precious gift for someone who’s struggling to stay engaged in life.
Nielsen wore one himself during the event, which I really didn’t even notice. That’s how discreet it is. Other employees wore them too, not because they had hearing loss, but because the device doubles as a high-tech communication tool.
The stigma is outdated
At the launch event in Switzerland—one of the first countries to host it—the focus wasn’t just on the device itself, but on the stigma around hearing aids. And yes, it’s still a thing. Unlike reading glasses, which people wear proudly, hearing aids are often seen as a sign of aging or weakness. That’s absurd. If anything, not wearing one when you need it makes you look older: you miss conversations, you seem absent, and your body language changes. Social withdrawal can even accelerate cognitive decline. It’s not about vanity—it’s about staying connected and mentally active. Well, and in this case looking good too!
Dominique Gisin, Olympic gold medalist and ambassador for Oticon, was also present. Her involvement brought a powerful message: hearing loss affects people of all ages, and embracing technology is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Invisible, multifunctional, and smart
This hearing aid is nearly invisible. It’s so compact because the internal components are suspended in a liquid, which removes air and compresses everything into a tiny, solid form. There’s a small antenna that adapts to your ear after 24 hours and helps keep the device securely in place—even while running or sweating. Unlike earbuds, which shift or fall out, this stays put. It’s waterproof, washable, and incredibly practical. There is nothing, and I mean nothing, behind or outside your ear. The device is only inside, that’s why you can hardly see it.
Artificial intelligence makes the difference
Oticon is now in its second generation of AI integration. The device uses artificial intelligence to distinguish between voices and background noise. It’s like facial recognition, but for sound. If someone is speaking to you, the AI prioritizes that voice. If it’s just traffic or chatter you don’t need, it fades into the background. This makes conversations clearer and less mentally exhausting.
It’s not just a hearing aid—it’s a lifestyle upgrade
You can use it as a phone. You can work with it. You can wear it without anyone noticing. It’s not just about hearing better—it’s about living better. Not only is it invisible, it has it all. And after seeing it up close and trying it, I can confirm. I’ll be a client for sure. This is the best hearing aid in the world right now, and who doesn’t like to have the best in the world?
