Fashion Photography To Take Home

Beatrice Lessi

Yvonne is a fashion institution.

Who am I talking about?

Yvonne Aeberhard Stutz of @funkyfortyphotography

She’s been at every single edition of Milan Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week for the last 15 years. Not quietly in the corner, not taking the usual photos. She’s there, moving fast, laughing, spotting details no one else notices, and somehow managing to capture moments that feel alive, playful, and totally unexpected. A coat flaring just right, a mix of colors that shouldn’t work but does, someone caught mid-laugh — that’s her signature.

For years, she’s shared these little bursts of style through her blog and social media, always showing fashion as fun, a bit irreverent, but full of elegance. And now, those photos have taken on a new life. She finally printed them, gave them space, and they feel different. You stop. You notice things you’d scroll past on a screen. You take it in.

I went to see a first selection at Hotel Vitznauerhof on Lake Lucerne. The place suits her perfectly — elegant but warm, luxurious but welcoming, the kind of Swiss hospitality that makes you feel instantly at ease. Her photos fit right in, like they’ve always belonged there.

She also has a new website, Funkyfortyphotography, where you can explore more of her work.

What’s beautiful about all of this is how natural it feels. Yvonne didn’t suddenly decide to make art. She just kept following what she loves, noticing the details, capturing life in her way. And one day, it quietly became something more. Something you can hang on a wall, look at, and smile.

It’s a good reminder that when you do what excites you, the results sometimes surprise even you — and sometimes, they’re just wonderful to live with.

  1. Oh wow, thank you so much. This beautiful article almost brought tears to my eyes – so so kind.

    Big hugs, Yvonne
