Punta Ala Sail and Cook

Beatrice Lessi

A three Michelin-starred chef cooking on a sailing boat, with everything rocking and a regatta unfolding around him? Yes, it happened. And yes, it was glorious. The second edition of Punta Ala  Sail & Cook_ brought together sailing legends like Tommaso Chieffi and culinary stars including Bobo Cerea of Da Vittorio fame, for a weekend that blurred the lines between sport and haute cuisine.

The format is as wild and wonderful as it sounds: each crew competes in a regatta while simultaneously preparing a dish on board. Balance, timing, and creativity are tested in equal measure. The event, organized by WEWE and the Yacht Club Punta Ala, featured categories for professionals, amateurs, and corporate teams. Judges included Rubina Rovini, Ljubica Komlenic, and of course, Bobo Cerea himself. The weekend culminated in a beachside celebration that felt more like a dream than a prize ceremony.

Chieffi, the event’s sailing ambassador, is one of Italy’s most decorated sailors. With *28 world championship titles* across various classes and the prestigious *Collare d’Oro al Merito Sportivo* awarded by CONI, Chieffi brought gravitas and charisma to the regatta. His presence underscored the event’s commitment to excellence—not just in the kitchen, but on the water.

As the sun dipped behind the Tuscan coastline, one of the many award ceremonies unfolded in true Italian style—slow, joyful, and delicious. The highlight? A massive pot of Paccheri alla Vittorio, the signature dish of the Da Vittorio restaurant. These oversized pasta tubes, known for their perfect bite and rich tomato sauce, were served directly on the beach by Roberto Cerea, dressed in full chef regalia. Guests lined up with plates in hand, the scent of simmering sauce mingling with sea breeze, and the moment became one for the books.
