Art on Ice 2023
Kimmy and many more medals

Zurich, Fribourg, Davos: these three locations will offer the popular Art on Ice show this February in Switzerland.
I went to the Zurich premiere thinking that I might not enjoy it that much, because I am definitely no figure skating expert. However, I’ve been following Kimmy Repond on Instagram for two years, and like anybody else who does I wasn’t surprised by the fact that she just won a bronze medal on her first European Championship, at age 16. The amount of training she posts regularly is impressive: she starts every morning at 6 am, then trains everywhere, with or without skates, during traveling breaks, before school, and in between excellent piano playing too. And she’s a normal teenager as well. We could all sense she was medal material, and that’s why, when I read her name, I decided to go.
Kimmy joined just for the premiere, but Art on Ice surprised me with many more Olympic medals and world champions who performed while live music by Swiss and international singers and musicians accompanied the choreographies. What a level of technique and entertainment at the same time!
My absolute favourite were 17 years old Ilia Malininand the incredible couple Vanessa Jackson and Eric Radford.
For the musical part, Melanie C. was the one everybody was waiting for.
Make your Art on Ice magical
At Hallenstadion (Zurich) the performance was preceded by cocktails and pre-show dinner. Groups can book different combinations including the after-party, where you can interact with skaters, dancers and musicians. Alternatively, you can simply enjoy the show.
I met many people I knew in the audience, in the press area and among the performers. I enjoyed meeting the singers (even though Melanie C.didn’t mix much with the crowd!) and loved the magical atmosphere backstage.
